Types of Workflow Actions in PropFuel
Workflow actions are the automated responses that fire when a contact answers your check-in question. You can mix and match multiple actions within a single workflow, with a few exceptions noted below. Actions are color-coded by category in the PropFuel interface.
Actions in PropFuel
Campaign & Contact Actions (Green)
These actions manage where contacts go and what data is stored on their PropFuel record.
Add to a Campaign: Adds the contact to another campaign you've already created in PropFuel.
Remove from a Campaign: Removes the contact from another campaign you've already created in PropFuel.
Opt Contact In to SMS: Opts the contact in to receive SMS (text message) campaigns. This is required before a contact can receive any SMS check-ins.
Update Contact Field: Updates a field on the contact's PropFuel record with a value you specify. This is useful for storing response data or tagging contacts with custom field values for future segmentation.
Add Tag(s) to Contact: Adds a keyword or phrase tag to the contact's record in PropFuel. You can then use this tag to filter contacts or build lists for future campaigns.
Remove Tag(s) from Contact: Removes a tag from the contact's record in PropFuel.
Internal Alert (Red)
Send Alert: Sends an alert email to you, a colleague, or a shared inbox to urge follow-up with the contact based on their response. This is useful for flagging high-priority responses — like a member expressing interest in volunteering or indicating they may not renew.
Landing Page & Redirect Actions (Purple)
These actions control what appears in the contact's browser after they respond. You can only choose one action from this group per workflow, because they all load content in the same browser tab and would conflict with each other.
Redirect to Another Question: Sends the contact to a follow-up question (a branch question) so you can continue the conversation based on their answer.
Redirect to URL: Sends the contact immediately to a website of your choosing — for example, a registration page, a renewal form, or an external resource.
Show Text on Landing Page: Sends the contact to a page containing text you customize and create within PropFuel. This is essentially your personalized reply to their answer.
Show Website Branch Campaign: Displays a website engagement campaign to the contact as a follow-up interaction on the landing page.
Website Interaction: Triggers a website engagement interaction for the contact.
Messaging Actions (Dark Blue)
These actions send a direct communication to the contact or create a conversation for your team to follow up on.
Create a Conversation: Generates a conversation in the Conversational Inbox for you or another PropFuel admin to interact with the contact. You can add tags and comments to the conversation when setting up this action.
Send Email: Sends the contact an emailed reply immediately after they respond. This is useful for sending a thank-you message, a resource, or a next step.
Actions in Other Systems
Teal-colored actions are powered by your connected integrations (Salesforce, Fonteva, iMIS, Nimble, NetForum, GrowthZone, HubSpot, Feathr, etc.). The specific teal actions available in your account depend on which connectors you have set up under Advanced Settings → Connectors.
Common actions include:
Updating member record fields in your AMS (e.g., writing a contact's response back to a field in Salesforce or iMIS).
Writing profile data to your marketing system.
Feathr-specific actions: Update (write back profile information) and Sprinkle (capture activity data via a breadcrumb). Learn more about Feathr actions.
If you're not seeing the teal write-back actions you'd expect, check your connectors under Advanced Settings to make sure the integration is properly set up and configured.
In your AMS: Varies by system. Typically, you can update member record fields.
In your Marketing System: Varies by system.
In Feathr:
Update - Allows you to write back profile information to Feathr, including name and email data (or custom fields).
Sprinkle – Allows you to capture activity data via a breadcrumb in Feathr. Learn more.
Updating fields in other systems
To write check-in responses from PropFuel into other systems using a connector, you’ll need to map both the Field and the Value.
1. Select the Field
In the Field dropdown, choose the external system field where you want to send the response (e.g., “Title” or “Interests”). This tells PropFuel where to store the data.
2. Insert the Value
Next, in the Value box, click the little blue ID card icon. This opens a list of response tokens you can use to pull the appropriate data from the check-in.
For Yes/No or multiple choice (single-select) questions, choose Selection
For rating questions, choose Rating
For open text responses, choose Response Text
After choosing the appropriate token, click the right arrow button (⇨) to insert it into the Value field.
Repeat this process for each question whose response you want to send to another system.
