Understanding SMS Credit Counts in PropFuel

Edited

How SMS Credits Work

PropFuel uses a credit-based system for sending SMS messages. Each message you send will consume a certain number of credits based on its length and content.

SMS Character Limits & Credit Usage

The number of credits used per SMS message depends on two key factors:

  1. Message Length – Standard SMS messages have a character limit. Messages exceeding this limit will require additional credits.

  2. Message Content – Including emojis or multimedia (images, files) reduces the character limit and may increase credit usage.

Standard SMS (Text-Only)

  • Up to 160 characters = 1 credit

  • More than 160 characters = 2+ credits, depending on length

SMS with Emojis or Multimedia Attachments

  • Up to 60 characters = 1 credit

  • More than 60 characters = 2+ credits, depending on length

💡 Tip: To conserve credits, keep messages concise and use the link shortener for long URLs.

How to Check SMS Credit Usage Per Send

While composing an SMS campaign in PropFuel:

  • You’ll see a credit count displayed near the message field.

  • Hover over the “?” icon to view available credits and the estimated credit usage for your message.

How to Check SMS Credit Usage Across your account

You can view the number of credits you've used across all SMS campaigns in PropFuel in Settings > SMS.

Managing SMS Credits

If you notice higher-than-expected credit usage, consider:

  • Shortening your message to fit within the 160-character limit (or 60 characters if using emojis/attachments).

  • Avoiding unnecessary emojis or media.

  • Using the PropFuel Link Shortener to reduce character count.

By keeping these guidelines in mind, you can maximize your SMS reach while managing your credit usage effectively.
